From @midtopiamusic:
“It takes a lot of skill to capture the essence of a place, but that’s exactly what The Macks have done. Their music sounds not just like their city (Portland), but like the whole state of Oregon.
Ringing through most are the obvious pieces — the fresh and bold indie rock and punk vibes (a la ‘keep portland weird’) mixed with the historic grunge grit of the PNW.
Of course there’s the surf rock style here and there for the coastal moments. It’s hard to say if it’s a coincidence that the pace for ‘Nice’ is the perfect energizing beat for a brisk hike to get your mind right, and ‘Family Ties’ has some introspection prompts for anyone spending time parsing through the longlasting effects of their early family life.
Then you’ve got “Cowboys & Cattlebroads” giving you the segway of some roadtrip preamble tunes perfect for the high desert scenic highways through the Oregon back country with scenes that make you start to google “where was the Oregon Trail?”
With “Ranchero” they take you all the way there. There’s some classic rock and country mixes that conjure images of The Beatles set in an old western, serenading you as you enter a small country town where the speed limit reads 25mph as you head to the county fairgrounds for the rodeo.
Let them take you on a trip. New live studio session out now on our YouTube.
